 TROOP 477 PRESS RELEASE

Thomas Geoffrey Webber
Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Dunwoody, GA (November 16, 2006)

Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church, is pleased to announce that Thomas Geoffrey Webber has been recognized for his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout at an Eagle Court of Honor conducted on November 16, 2006. He is the 71st member of Troop 477 to have earned his Eagle since the Troop was first chartered in 1972. Only three percent of boys who enter scouting are in this distinctive rank.

Webber, son of Jeremy and Cheryl Webber of Dunwoody, is a senior at Dunwoody High School, where he is a member of the school’s wrestling team.

Thomas Webber's Eagle Scout Project was organizing and cataloging the books for the Special Education department at Dunwoody High School. The work included construction of shelving for the department’s library.

Thomas says his experience in Scouting has caused him to develop an appreciation for community service and helping others. Thomas joined Troop 477 in 1998 and has been an active member participating on most of the camping trips and service projects such as Scouting for Food and building Charis House.

He has served in a variety of leadership positions within the troop including Senior Patrol Leader, the top leadership position for a Boy Scout.  He was selected by his fellow Scouts to be a member of the Scouting honor society, the "Order of the Arrow".

Thomas is an active member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church.
