Paul Michael Webber
Achieves Eagle Scout Rank
|
Dunwoody,
GA. (May 11, 2003) -
Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingwood United
Methodist Church, Dunwoody, GA is pleased to announce that seventeen year
old Paul Michael Webber, a senior at Dunwoody High School, has been awarded
the Eagle Scout Rank by the National Council of the Boy Scouts Of America.
Paul is one of over fifty six Eagle Scouts from Troop 477 in its 29 year
history. While only three percent of all boys who enter scouting achieve the
rank of Eagle Scout, Paul joins an impressive group of individuals who are
also Eagle Scouts such as former President Gerald Ford, former U. S. Senator
Sam Nunn, astronaut James Lovell, and director Steven Spielberg. Paul's
experience in scouting has caused him to develop an appreciation for service
and helping others.
Paul's
Eagle Scout Project was construction of three hexagonal benches around
the trees in front of Vanderlyn Elementary School so that parents would
have a place to sit while they wait for the children until school lets out.
In addition, the landscaping where the benches were installed was
improved by adding additional Monkey Grass to the boarder.
Paul
joined Troop 477 in 1996 and has been an active member participating on most
of the camping trips and service projects such as Scouting for Food and
building Charis house, and serving in leadership positions within the troop.
He has also been chosen to be a member of the scouting honor society,
the "Order Of The Arrow".
Paul
has just finished his final semester in the honors program at Georgia
Perimeter College as a joint enrollment
student and will graduate from Dunwoody High School May 23. He was
awarded the President's 2003 award for Outstanding
Academic Excellence, and will be attending Georgia Tech this fall. Paul also has earned his advanced brown
belt in Karate. He has served as an acolyte at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church in
Sandy Springs since 1997 and is currently an Acolyte Team Leader.
