Jordan Douglas Hall
Achieves Eagle Scout
Rank |
Dunwoody, Georgia (October 4, 2001)
Fifteen year old Jordan Douglas Hall, a sophomore at Dunwoody High School,
has been awarded the Eagle Scout Rank by the National Council of the Boy
Scouts Of America. Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church
in Dunwoody, conducted an Eagle Court of Honor for Jordan October 4th.
Jordan is one of over fifty Eagle Scouts from Troop 477 in its 29 year
history, and is the Troop's first Eagle Scout of the 21st Century.
Jordan's
Eagle Scout Project was an environmental "clean-up" of the Huntley
Hills Creek where he and 36 other troop members, adult leaders and neighbors
removed 3.2 tons of trash and debris from the creek. Jordan worked with
the Director of Public Works, Tillman Hannon, at the City of Chamblee who
sponsored his project and gave his support throughout the effort. Jordan was
also inspired by Eagle Scout, Devon Grogan of Chamblee, now a Police Officer
with the Dekalb Police Department, who also did a clean-up of a Chamblee
neighborhood park when he was earning his Eagle rank about 10 years ago.
Jordan
was a member of Cub Scout Pack 166 in Charlotte, NC, and joined Pack 477 at
Kingswood United Methodist Church as a Webelo in September 1996 when his
family moved to Atlanta. Finding an active Boy Scout Troop was the
first thing they did upon moving to Atlanta, and it was an immediate way to
make friends and get involved with activities and the community. The boys
Jordan met at that time, are still his best friends today. Jordan
earned his Arrow of Light and crossed over into Troop 477 in 1997 and has
been an active member participating on camping trips, service projects such
as Scouting for Food, and serving in leadership positions within the troop.
Jordan
is a member of the Dunwoody Wildcat Marching Band, the Beta Club, Kingswood
Methodist Youth Group and is a karate student at Joe Corley Karate where he
is in the Black Belt and Masters Programs.
