Brock Emerson Aaron
Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Dunwoody, GA.  (August 1, 2005)

Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church, is pleased to announce that Brock Emerson Aaron has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Brock is one of only sixty five Eagle Scouts from Troop 477 in its 33 year history. Only three percent of boys who enter scouting earn this distinctive rank.

Brock’s Eagle Scout Project was the design and construction of eight platforms supporting five outdoor training structures for trainers and large dogs at the Canine Assistance Center in Alpharetta, Georgia. The center trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs. Brock, neighbors, other scouts, and adult leaders contributed over 200 combined hours in the design, carpentry, and construction of the training platforms.

Brock has been involved in scouting since he was a six-year old Tiger Cub with Pack 477 at Kingswood. He officially joined Troop 477 in 1998 and has been an active member ever since, earning 21 merit badges. He has participated in campouts, summer camp, Scouting for Food, and other service projects.

Brock has served in numerous leadership positions within the Troop and was selected by other scouts as a member of scouting’s honor society, the Order of the Arrow. Brock is a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, and in 2003 earned the Ad Altare Dei award, the Roman Catholic religious award for Boy Scouts. He has especially enjoyed backpacking in New Mexico with scout and adult members of the Troop for ten days in 2003 at Philmont Scout Ranch and for seven days this summer at the Double H High Adventure Base.

Brock graduated from Dunwoody High School in June, 2005. He played soccer and swam on the swim team for four years at Dunwoody. Brock played soccer in Italy with his club soccer team in the summer of 2004, and recently returned from England where the team played British under-19 teams. Brock will attend and play soccer for Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina this fall.

Brock is the son of Cyndy and Bill Aaron of Dunwoody, and the grandson of Dot Aaron and the late Joe Aaron of Chamblee. Brock will be recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor to be held on August 7, 2005 at Kingswood United Methodist Church.
