Thomas Alexander Hetrick

Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

 

Dunwoody, GA (November 5, 2011) - Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church, is pleased to announce that Thomas Alexander Hetrick, son of Tracy and Lawrence Hetrick of Dunwoody, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is the 102nd Eagle Scout from Troop 477 since it was first chartered in 1972.

His Eagle Project was building a framed chicken-net wire cage for growing blueberries at the city of Dunwoody’s Donaldson Farm. The structure offers easy access to raised beds of blueberries while protecting them from raccoons, squirrels, and deer. The cage was requested by the master gardeners at Donaldson Farm.

Thomas joined Troop 477 from Cub Scout Pack 3340 in April, 2003. From 2003 until 2007 he attended summer camp sessions at Woodruff Scout Reservation with the Troop. In 2007 he attended Green Bar National Leadership Training at Bert Adams Scout Reservation; in 2008 Northern Tier (Boundary Waters) High Adventure Base, Minnesota: and in 2009 Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico, for which he was Crew Chief. He also served as Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for the Troop.

Thomas is a senior at Dunwoody High School. He has been active for several years in the Youth Praise Band of Dunwoody Community Church, which provides music for services, charity, outreach at. He is a dedicated musician who is an active member of The 49 Sound, for which he composes, sings, and plays multiple instruments.

Boy Scout Troop 477 joined Thomas, his family, friends, and the Scouting community in celebrating his achievement at an Eagle Court of Honor on November 5, 2011, at Kingswood United Methodist Church.
