Jason Joseph Liess

Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Dunwoody, GA (Nov 29, 2011)Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church, is pleased to announce that Jason Joseph Liess, son of Beth and Michael Liess of Sandy Springs, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  Jason completed his Eagle Board of Review on October 9, 2011, two weeks before his 16th birthday.   He is the 103rd Eagle Scout from Troop 477 since it was first chartered in 1972.

 

His Eagle Project was to clear trees, brush and debris from a wooded area beside Kingswood United Methodist Church.  This project will enable the church to use the land for future outdoor gathering area.

 

Jason joined Troop 477 from Troop 434 in the fall of 2006.  During Jason’s time with the troop he has attended Woodruff Scout Reservation for summer camp and Boy Scout National Leadership Training at Bert Adams Scout Reservation.  Jason was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 2010, Scouting’s service society.  In 2010 Jason attended Philmont High Adventure Scout Ranch in New Mexico with Troop 434 for which he was assistant Crew Leader.  He also served as Patrol Leader and Chaplain’s aide for the Troop.  This summer, Jason plans to go to Northern Tier (boundary Waters) High Adventure Base, Minnesota.

 

Jason is a Junior at North Springs High School where he is a Super Honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society.  He is an active member of the Robotics team and plays on the Varsity Golf Team.  In his leisure time, Jason loves to travel, snow ski and scuba dive.

 

Boy Scout Troop 477 joined Jason, his family, friends and the Scouting community in celebrating his achievement at an Eagle Court of Honor on November 29, 2011, at Kingswood United Methodist Church.
