Ryan Greenstein
Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Dunwoody, GA.  (January 12, 2011) - Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood United Methodist Church, is pleased to announce that Ryan Lewis Greenstein, son of Jeff and Eve Greenstein of Dunwoody, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Ryan completed his Eagle Board of Review on November 14th, 2010. Ryan is the 98th Scout from Troop 477 to earn the rank of Eagle since the Troop was chartered to Kingswood in 1972.

Ryan's Eagle Scout Project was to build a Cross Country trail for the Dunwoody High School Cross Country team at Peachtree Middle School. The project included clearing and tilling the trail while removing any rocks or roots that may trip runners.

Ryan joined Troop 477 in 2005 and began scouting as a Cub Scout in 2002. He has held a medley of leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and has acted as Senior Patrol Leader on many trips. Ryan was also the chaplain’s aide on both his trip to Philmont and Northern Tier. One of Ryan’s fondest memories of scouting was reaching the summit of Mt. Baldy (12,447ft) while backpacking in Philmont, New Mexico.

Ryan is a junior at Dunwoody High School where he is a member of the Varsity Cross Country team, the Swim team, and is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society. Ryan has been captain of his grade’s Relay for Life team at Dunwoody since his freshman year. Ryan is one of the swim coaches at Vermack pool during the summer. This will be his third year of coaching summer league.

Boy Scout Troop 477 will join with Ryan and his family and the Scouting Community at large, in celebration of his achievement at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor to be held at January 23rd at 3:30, in the Sanctuary at Kingswood United Methodist Church. A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Fellowship Hall.
