TROOP 477 PRESS RELEASE

Benjamin J. Deutsch
Awarded Eagle Scout Rank

Boy Scout Troop 477, chartered to Kingswood
United Methodist Church, is pleased to announce that Benjamin J. Deutsch,
son of Barry and Lynn Deutsch of Dunwoody, has earned the rank of Eagle
Scout. Ben completed his Eagle Board of Review on November 8th, 2009. Ben is
the 95th Eagle Scout from Troop 477 since it was chartered to
Kingswood in 1972.
Ben’s Eagle Scout Project
consisted of building planters and bench’s for the entryway to Chesnut
Charter Elementary School along with benches for the bus lane waiting area
and a new entry for the nature trail. In addition, old outdoor artwork that
had become in disrepair and unsafe was removed from the site.
Ben joined Troop 477 in
2003 after completing his Cub Scout career with Pack 477. Ben earned the
Arrow of Light, which is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn. Ben has
been an active member of the Troop participating in many of the outdoor
activities and service projects. He has held many Troop leadership positions
including Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), Assistant Senior Patrol Leader,
Scribe, Summer Camp SPL, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, and Instructor. One of
the highlights of Ben's Scouting adventures was a boundary waters canoe trip
to the Northern Tier High Adventure base in Minnesota. Ben has also been
very involved in the Boy Scouts of America National Youth Leadership
Training program. Ben was a participant in 2006 and has since served on
Atlanta Area Council Staff as a Troop Guide, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader,
and Senior Patrol Leader in subsequent years.
Ben is a senior at Dunwoody
High School where he was the Head Equipment Manager for the Football Program
and participates in Student Government. He also participates in the Academy
of Mass Communication program. After graduation, Ben will attend Texas A&M
University where he plans to study Sports Management.
Boy Scout Troop 477 joined
Ben, his family and the Scouting Community at large, in celebration of his
achievement at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held on January 10, 2010 at
Kingswood United Methodist Church.
