TRIP OVERVIEW:

Orienteering Course and Hiking trip at Stone Mountain

We will have a day trip to Stone Mountain to use the orienteering course and hike around the mountain.  This event will provide the opportunity for boys to accomplish the following requirements: 

      Tenderfoot: 5

      2nd Class: 1A, 1B, 5, 6B

      1st Class: 1, 2

Experienced Scouts, especially those going on Northern Tier are strongly encouraged to attend to work on their orienteering skills.

 

Scouts should travel in Class A uniform but may leave their shirts in the car and wear Class B t-shirts for the hike.  Long pants and hiking boots should be worn based on the terrain of the orienteering course (briers, poison ivy, etc.).

Permission Slips due no later than Thursday, May 8, 2008

 

MEAL PREPARATION:

Unless noted otherwise, all meals are prepared by Patrol. Patrol members should all participate in meal planning at Patrol Corners meetings during the weekly Troop meetings. The Patrol Leader is responsible for organizing the purchase, distribution, and Duty Rosters for meal preparation.

The cost of the trip is shown below.  The "Total" is payable to "Boy Scout Troop 477”.  Cash is acceptable for this trip too.

The Campmaster is responsible for making decisions for the Troop while on the outing. If changes in plans are necessary for any reason, it is his decision. Discipline matters are his responsibility. All other Troop leaders and parents on the trip are expected to defer to his authority in decisions affecting the safety of the Troop and the success of the outing.
