FALL 2010 COMMUNITY LIFE PROGRAMS FOR KIDS

 

DANCE:  Join us this school year as dance instructors from Creative Movement & Dance teach your child the art of dance! Classes will be offered in two sessions for the school year and will include Pre-Ballet, Tap & Ballet Combo classes and Creative Movement/Liturgical Praise.  Pre-Ballet classes (ages 2½-3) are Mondays, 1:15 - 2:00 pm. Tap & Ballet Combo classes are Tuesdays, 1:15 - 2:00 pm or 2:00 - 2:45 pm (ages 4-6) and 4:00 - 5:00 pm (ages 7-9).  Creative Movement/Liturgical Praise classes (ages 15+) are Tuesdays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm.  Session 1 is September 13 - January 11.  Session 2 is January 24 - May 10.  A recital will be held in May.  Monday classes are $220 per session and Tuesday classes are $235 per session.  Payment can be made in 4 monthly installments.  Class size is limited so hurry!  See online registration form for more details.  Registration deadline is September 9.
 

CREATIVE KIDS ARTS & CRAFTS:  Let your child’s creativity soar in this Arts & Crafts program designed for children ages 3 to 6.  Introduce your child to the wonders of color and texture through the skilled talents of artist and interior decorator Dawne Cueller.  They’ll experience new crafts each week.  Enroll now for this eight-week session.  Classes are 1:15 - 2:00 pm on Tuesdays or Wednesdays in room 134 (choir room) beginning the week of September 14.  Classes are limited to 12 children, so register early.  Registration fee is $135.  Registration deadline is September 9.

CREATIVE KIDS ART CLASSES FOR OLDER KIDS:  Give your older child’s imagination the chance to shine in this Arts & Crafts program designed for children ages 6 to 12  Introduce your child to the wonders of  art through the skilled talents of artist and interior decorator Dawne Cueller.  Students will explore art through painting, pastels, jewelry making and much more.  Enroll now for this eight-week session.  Classes are 5:30 - 6:30 pm on Tuesdays in room 134 (choir room) beginning the week of September 14.  Classes are limited to 12 children, so register early.  Registration fee is $135. Registration deadline is September 9.


CO-ED INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE FOR AGES 4½ TO 13 YEARS: 
This popular league is back at Kingswood! We’ll play other nearby churches and rotate games with them on Saturdays.  Evaluations will be held on Tuesday, September 7, and practice will start during the week of September 13.  Ages 4 ½-5 practice Tuesdays, 5:30 - 6:30 pm; ages 6-8 practice Tuesdays, 6:30 - 7:30 pm; ages 9-10 practice Mondays, 5:30 - 6:30 pm; ages 11-13 practice  Mondays, 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Please note that the age groupings are tentative and dependent upon registration.   Registration fee is $100 which covers all expenses and includes the player’s uniform T-shirt.  Registration deadline is September 1.  Register by August 10 and pay only $85.

KIDS FIT FEST:  Elizabeth Ramey is bringing recess to Kingswood! This program will engage children in backyard games and activities that will provide tons of fun and lots of exercise. We’re offering classes Mondays, September 13 - November 1, 1:00 - 2:00 pm, for ages 3-6 (must be 3 by March 1, 2010). Registration fee is $88. Registration deadline is September 9.


INDOOR TENNIS:  Join us this fall as professional tennis instructors from Pure Tennis teach children ages 4 to 12 all about the basics of tennis. Weekly lessons are on Thursdays, September 16 - November 4 (no class on September 23).  Ages 4-6 meet 1:00 - 2:00 pm, ages 6-9 meet 5:30 - 6:30 pm, and ages 10-12 meet 4:30 - 5:30 pm. Class size is limited so sign up early! Registration fee is $105. Registration deadline is September 9.


CARDIO TENNIS:
 Cardio Tennis for Kids (CT4Kids) is a group play activity featuring action-based tennis drills and games for children (ages 8-12) of all ability levels.  It emphasizes movement and fun using music and pedometers. Using age-appropriate equipment, the CT4Kids environment develops tennis and athletic skills while improving health and fitness. CT4Kids is designed to invigorate children’s tennis programming and will provide an option to help fight childhood obesity.  Classes meet Tuesdays, September 14 - November 2 (no class on September 21), 4:30 - 5:30 pm.  Registration fee is $105 for this seven-week session.  Class size is limited, so sign up early!  Registration deadline is September 9.


YOGA FOR KIDS & YOUTH:  Register now for Yoga for Kids & Youth on Thursdays, September 16 - November 4.  Ages 4-6 meet 1:15 - 2:00 pm, ages 6-9 meet 4:30 - 5:30 pm, and ages 10+ meet 5:30 - 6:30 pm.  Registration fee is $94 for this seven-week session.  Registration deadline is September 9.

 

OUT OF THE BOX provides new and out-of-the-ordinary ways to tell the Good News.  Music, drama, movement and multi-media experiences allow middle and high-school students to be the creators.  There are many ways to tell the story and exploring the possibilities is part of the fun.  This group meets 6:30 - 7:20 pm on Wednesdays in room 303 (CLC café) starting September 8.  There is no charge for this activity.

FALL 2010 COMMUNITY LIFE PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS


OPERATION BOOT CAMP:
  Whatever your goals, Operation Boot Camp will jump start your fitness progress with a 30-day specially designed fitness boot camp program.  Their experienced team of instructors works with you every step of the way to help you achieve your goals and reach a whole new level of health.  The group meets in the Kingswood gym weekday mornings at 6:00 am.  For more information and to register, go to www.operationbootcamp.com.  Discounts will be offered to Kingswood members and Preschool parents.


ADULT YOGA & PILATES:  Join one or all of these ongoing classes.  Yoga is held every Tuesday, and Pilates is held every Wednesday.  The combined Yoga/Pilates class is held every Saturday.  All classes are conducted in the Fellowship Hall, 9:45 - 10:45 am.  The cost is $10 per class or $75 for a 10-class discount punch card.  No need to register; just show up for the class.  September Special! In the month of September, bring a friend to class who is not currently in the class and you and your friend can attend the class for free!

 

SINGLES VOLLEYBALL Join us each Monday evening, 7:30 - 9:30 pm, for these FREE singles volleyball games.  No reservation is required; just show up and play.  Please see our game schedule .


WEIGHT TRAINING CIRCUIT CLASSES:  Teresa Scheele, NSCA-certified personal trainer, will take you through a full-body workout in half an hour!  Classes are twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays, 1:15 - 1:45 pm, in our fully-equipped weight room. Participants rotate through exercise stations using dumbbells, machines, bands, balls and body weight exercises to target all 10 major muscle groups.  The next session runs September 9 - October 28 (no class on October 11).  Registration fee is $112 for the 14-class session.  Space is limited, so sign up early.  Registration deadline is September 7.

 

CARDIO TENNIS FOR ADULTS: Cardio Tennis pushes your fitness to a new level with a high energy workout! It’s a fun group activity featuring warm-up, cardio workout, and cool-down phases. If you want to find a healthy, new way to get in shape and burn calories…try Cardio Tennis!  Weekly classes meet Thursdays, September 16 - November 4 (no class on September 23), 11:00 am - 12:00 noon. Registration fee is $105. Registration deadline is September 9.

 

BALLROOM DANCING:  Instructor Tom Bellamy continues this popular activity at Kingswood.  This five-week session is held Sundays, September 12 - October 10, 7:00 - 8:00 pm, in the Kingswood gym.  Call Tom Bellamy at 404-932-7640 for more details or to register.  Registration fee is $60 per person.  The class is open to couples or singles. Adults and youth (13 years and older) are welcome in this class.

 

PERSONAL TRAINING:  Sessions are available with our NCSA certified personal trainer.  Several options are available based on your goals, schedule and available equipment.  Meet on a regular basis with the trainer in our fully-equipped weight room or just meet periodically to get trained on a new home workout.  Assistance with basic equipment purchases is also available.  For information, contact Teresa Scheele at teresa.scheele@comcast.net or 678-521-2621.
