Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM) is a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance to individuals and families of all backgrounds and faiths, treating everyone with dignity and compassion.
BCM is driven by a dual mission to serve those in need and provide opportunities for members of the community to be involved in service. BCM places special emphasis on preventing homelessness through education, and the provision of food, clothing and financial assistance to families and individuals in crisis.
BCM also provides long term assistance for working parents and their children through The 70/30 Project, Transitional Housing Program, and Money Management Course.
BCM is driven by a dual mission to serve those in need and to provide meaningful opportunities for members of the community to give in service. We have, therefore, intentionally created an environment that is dependent on volunteers who are ready to become involved. Our vision is community, a united collection of neighbors serving each other as an expression of love. Over 400 volunteers provide direct services to clients and assist with fund-raising, administration, and leadership. BCM strives to provide volunteer opportunities that effectively incorporate each persons individual skills and interests. Many people have brought their own talents and ideas to BCM and are now implementing them to the benefit of all we serve. We welcome new ideas for volunteer involvement. Time commitments vary, and we try to be flexible for anyones schedule. There are group opportunities to serve and students are welcome.
Atlantas rapid growth has also brought fierce challenges, leaving many to struggle in the face of rising home prices and longer, more-expensive commutes. Today, 48 percent of our citys children live in low-income homes. Their parents are the backbone of working Atlanta: bank tellers, store clerks, mechanics and laborers. They are our hardworking neighbors of all faiths and creeds, who never give up in their battle to thrive. When illness strikes or jobs are cut, they do not have the savings or family support to pay for even the basics, such as food and shelter. In 2007, BCM anticipates serving more than 10,000 people across Atlanta. A great city is marked not only by its progress, but also by its compassion, and as a friend to BCM, you exemplify Atlantas greatness. Your contribution during this milestone year will ensure that families will not be homeless, children will not go hungry and thousands will experience the compassion of Atlanta.
