Kingswood United Methodist Church Family Ministries
Will Again Present Becoming a Love and LogicŪ Parent Classes

The Becoming a Love and LogicŪ Classes offered through Partners in Parenting, a unit of Kingswood United Methodist Church’s (KUMC) Family Ministries, in January were so successful that we are again offering this series of special parenting class this fall.  The classes will likely begin in mid to late August, shortly after the beginning of the Dekalb County school session, and will likely be offered on Wednesday evenings, just after Wednesday Supper, beginning around 6:15 and concluding at 8:30.  Child care will again be provided at no charge.

Based on the nationally known and respected Becoming a Love and Logic ParentŪ program and led by trained Love and LogicŪ Facilitator and KUMC member, Melissa Dillon, classes provide participants with the everyday, practical skills needed to help them become happier, less frustrated and more confident parents.  Love & Logic, Partners In ParantingBilled as “America’s most practical and entertaining parent training,” Love and LogicŪ helps parents address many of their day-to-day frustrations. The learned skills are designed to be used immediately and address such commonplace issues as “How do I get my kids out of bed to catch the bus in time,” “Is there a way to discipline my toddler in public without creating a scene,” and “How can I get my teenager to come home at the agreed upon time?” Ms. Dillon comments: “The skills that parents take away can be applied immediately and are timeless in that parents can use the tools on the youngest child, then modify them slightly and continue to apply them as the child grows into their teenage years, or they can begin using them with older children with similar success."

Ms. Dillon also noted that in order to get the most out of the classes, parents should commit to attend all of the training sessions if possible.  Cost for the eight-session program is $100 per person, or $175 per couple and is payable (to KUMC) at the first class. Registration will be limited.  If you are interested in taking the class, want to provide input on class start dates and times, want more information or would like to talk to a former class participant, please call Ms. Dillon at 770-451-2106 or email her at billandmo@comcast.net.   To download a registration form, click here, or email Melissa Dillon at billandmo@comcast.net with your name(s) and the name(s) and ages of your children.
