NEWS FOR THE CREW
Our last meeting was Thursday May 10th, and we had a productive
meeting.
We have done some activity scheduling and set some tentative dates
for future activities as well.

Our next meeting will be Thursday May 24, 2012 at 7:30 PM in the
Scout Hut at Kingswood United Methodist Church. It looks like
Thursdays may be the time that most are able to attend, so we will
vote at the next meeting as to whether or not we will set 2
Thursday's a month as our regular meeting time.
Please RSVP so we know who to expect. If you have not demonstrated
camp stove use, please bring your camp stove and a menu item of your
choice to prepare on the stove.
REGISTRATION AND RECRUITING:
Our number 1 priority right now needs to be getting enough members
so we can register with the Atlanta Area Council , BSA as an actual
official Crew with insurance coverage. We have four applications in
hand and need six more. We have been operating in an unofficial
capacity for a year now and it is imperative that we move forward
with registration. We need to collect your application and we need
to recruit a few more members. If we can not do this by Fall, then
we will have to choose between opening the Crew to boys or just
dropping the idea of the crew. Please talk to those of your friends whom you think might enjoy the
kinds of activities we are planning and encourage them to come join
us. During September, we may also "revisit" our decision on when to
allow boys to join the crew.
 Venture Crew 477
A Venture Crew is a program unit of the Boy Scouts of America that
consists of high school aged male and female "Venturers" (aged 14
through 20) that participate in high adventure outdoor activities.
Our plan is to organize an all girl Crew at first, and then let the
members choose when they would like to invite boys to join.
Venture Crew 477 will also perform community service by supporting
the Missions programs of Kingswood United Methodist Church.
*12 and 13 year olds will be welcomed as future prospective members
and can participate in activities as guests with a Parent/Guardian.
IF YOU WISH TO JOIN the Crew, bring the registration fee of $15 for
the year, and be prepared to complete a membership application. A
copy can be downloaded on-line; bring it already completed and
signed.
